Hi! I’m Joanna Russin (she/her), but everyone calls me Jo. I am a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International, a Certified VBAC Doula, as well as a Children and Families Licensed Social Worker.

I am also a wife and mama of two.I was born in Poland and came to the United States as a child. I speak fluent Polish. I grew up in the Belmont-Cragin area and now reside in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.

I have always loved a hot cup of tea, a good book, the smell of the fresh outdoors, finding new adventures to get lost in and just doing things that give me pure joy and adrenaline in life. In my free time you will find me learning new things, cooking, crafting, helping others out, dancing with my toddler and spending time with those I love.

As a Doula

As a labor doula, Jo is dedicated to providing unconditional care for everyone during this journey. She is passionate about supporting all birthing persons and their families and building relationships with each and every family. Jo is always checking in on her families and making sure that they are doing well mentally and physically. Jo has taken a hypnobirthing workshop and really enjoys bringing a calm environment during birth and educating her families with evidence-based information. She is currently learning about herbalism and is adding that to her natural doula care. Jo has supported families in all birth settings and with all birth choices from water births, hospital births, VBACs, home births, natural births, inductions and births with an epidural.

She had two of her own kids and knows the importance of additional support. She believes that everyone should have equal care and an advocate during their birth. She believes in providing each individual with a warm smile, encouragement through the whole experience and connecting with you.

It would be her honor to join you on this journey and build a friendship along the way!
